Inside of Rock Island Prison book

In 1908, J.W. Minnich, wrote a short history of the terrible conditions he endured while a prisoner at the Rock Island (Arsenal Island) Prisoner of War Camp from December of 1863 to June of 1865.  In this volume he describes the often inhumane experiences he and his fellow Confederate POWs suffered at the hands of the Union Authorities who ran the Prison.  The Iowa Division Sons of Confederate Veterans has republished this volume along with a list of the known Confederate Prisoners who died while at Rock Island POW Camp.  In addition, a partial listing of some of the nearly 19,000, Confederate POWs is included in this book.   This book is clearly an important addition to the library of every member of the SCV and anyone interested in the War Between the States.  This book contains the original work by Minnich, an introductory section, a listing of the Confederates who died while in the prison camp, and a partial listing of some of the POWs, can be obtained for $15 post paid [check, cash, or money order ] from:
